Viola states that her talent for singing was inspired
by her grandmother (also named Viola). "I remember
I was six and seven years old. My grandmother used
to sing (Gospel) tunes, accapella, around the house.
She encouraged me to sing right along with her. From
there, I enjoyed and could not stop singing. I believe
my voice started to musically develop when I was
around nine years old. My other inspirations are
the great, Mahalia Jackson and my big sister, Melva".
